Industrial & Institutional Compactors

Automatic operation is controlled through the electrical panel mounted on the unit and includes timers, relays, motor starter, switches and all wiring for turnkey operation of the compactor systems. All our systems are serial numbered for easy identification after the sale. To reduce manufacturing and assembly costs, detailed drawings were generated for the reservoir manufacturer in order to maintain consistent quality.

Heavy Equipment Manufacturing
Equipment Manufacturing

A customer in Baltimore builds custom truck lift equipment, capable of raising buses, heavy trucks and even M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. These systems provide ease of operation for the mechanics who service these pieces of equipment. All systems must meet strict regulations and be reliable and safe. A custom hydraulic valve manifold assembly was designed to incorporate over 20 individual control elements and assure synchronous operation of 2 independent lift systems. Additionally, hand pumps are included to provide operation in the event of a power failure.

Vehicle Parking

A specialty industry that we've been especially fortunate to work with is the vehicle parking industry. These companies provide equipment that allows the retail operator to triple his available parking area by utilizing equipment that allows for vertical "stacking" of up to 3 vehicles. These power units must operate reliably in all weather and incorporate a hand pump for emergency situations. PHI provides systems to 3 of the U.S.'s largest producers of this equipment.

Compression Molding

A local compression molding company needed simple power units for press operation. These small custom units take little space, are easily maintained and also incorporate simple electrical on/off operation to suit the customers 'on-demand' requirements. The test inspection card can be seen attached to the unit, and a copy of the schematic and bill of materials is also included in the card protector.

Paper Converting

Designed as backup hydraulic power in the event of a power failure, this custom hydraulic power unit incorporates a hydro-pneumatic accumulator, capable of storing enough pressurized fluid to allow full retraction of 6 nip rolls in an emergency. Although the unit also utilizes a system bleed down circuit to "inert" the system for maintenance, a properly sized orifice in the bleed down circuit provided more than enough time to make sure that all nip rolls were open. This system was designed to be 'energy conscious' without any loss of power, realizing over a 60% energy savings for the end user.

Thermoforming

Designed to replace an aging system with more current technology, this unit was proposed after discussions with the machine operators at the facility. Features shown include: motor starter prewired to the electric motor; separate control enclosure with pristine terminal strip wiring; easily accessible pressure and flow adjustments; temperature control components; and user-maintainable filter.

U.S. Military Testing

These hydraulic systems will be installed on every U.S. Aircraft carrier in service. They provide the hydraulic muscle to test the arresting cables used for stopping the aircraft landing on the carrier. By testing the cables on-board, operating costs are cut drastically, versus having the cables shipped or air lifted to a U.S. Test facility. Each unit has proportional pressure and flow control, and will be instrumented with pressure, level, and temperature transducers. Battleship gray paint, of course, covers the specially designed stainless steel tank.
